I've just skimmed through the pdf format of The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. Honestly, I didn't gain anything out of this S$0.36 e-book, it was a total disappointment.
Nevertheless, it did inspire me to come out with my own version.
“The 7 Morning Habits of High Performers According to TCM”
These morning habits will help you kick-start your day so you can achieve greater focus, precision, efficiency and productivity.
1. Set your internal clock, wake up early every day. How early? As early as 4 or 5am. “Alarm” is such a dreadful adjective for your clock, it is actually not advisable to be jolted out of bed.
2. Use about 10 minutes to take deep breaths. Train your diaphragm. Some people meditate or have their quiet time.
3. Instead of stimulating coffee, sip a cup of warm water to calm your empty stomach. I usually take my TCM tonic-pills with warm water before my morning cardio-workout.
4. Go to the bathroom between 5 am and 7 am. According to TCM, this period is the time of the Large Intestine, making it a perfect opportunity to have a bowel movement and remove wastes from the body.
5. Exercise. Sweat it out for at least 20 minutes. Our bodies are not meant to be perpetually sedentary.
6. Have a nutritious breakfast between 7 am and 9 am. 7 am to 9 am belongs to your Stomach, the best time to nourish your body. And with your coffee, of course.
7. Get some 5-10 minutes of sunlight on your back while you are out (before 10 am) if possible. The back of your body including the neck, shoulders, upper back belong to “Yang”. Sun is a therapy by itself.
I realised that “highly effective” people are disciplined in many aspects of their lives. As the saying goes, "If it was easy, everyone would do it", right?
